Ethnocare: HSA & FSA Payments Now Available Online

The ethnocare devices are available online with HSA and FSA

Making Prosthetic Solutions More Accessible

At Ethnocare, we want to help more people with limb loss access solutions that can redefine their mobility.

That also means recognizing that there isn't one purchasing pathway that works for everyone.

Some patients receive their Ethnocare products through their prosthetist and insurance. Others may not have coverage for a particular product, may have a high deductible, or may simply be looking for another way to use healthcare funds already available to them.

That's why we're introducing another option for U.S. customers:

Eligible HSA and FSA cards can now be used directly at checkout on the Ethnocare website.

What Are HSA and FSA Funds?

A Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) allow eligible individuals to set aside money for qualified healthcare expenses.

For customers with available funds, using an HSA or FSA can provide another way to pay for eligible healthcare products without relying entirely on out-of-pocket after-tax spending.

Eligibility ultimately depends on the individual's plan and the specific expense, so customers should confirm coverage with their HSA or FSA administrator when necessary.

How to Use Your HSA or FSA at Ethnocare

For eligible U.S. customers, the process is simple:

  1. Visit the Ethnocare online store.
  2. Select your product and size.
  3. Proceed to checkout.
  4. Use your eligible HSA or FSA card as your payment method.

This creates another direct-access option for people who may not have insurance reimbursement available to them.

Insurance Reimbursement Is Still an Important Option

Adding HSA and FSA payments does not change the role of prosthetists in accessing and fitting Ethnocare products.

Whenever possible, we encourage patients to speak with their prosthetist first.

Your prosthetist can help determine the appropriate product and size, integrate it into your existing prosthetic setup, and determine whether reimbursement is available through your insurance.

Overlay Reimbursement

The Ethnocare Overlay is an adjustable air-based interface designed to help manage residual limb volume changes and socket fit throughout the day.

In the United States, the Overlay is recognized under dedicated HCPCS code L5657.

Patients interested in the Overlay can simply ask their prosthetist about Ethnocare and HCPCS L5657. Coverage and payment depend on medical necessity, payer requirements, documentation, and the individual's insurance plan.

Underlay Reimbursement

The Ethnocare Underlay is worn underneath the prosthetic liner and is designed to help manage sweat, heat, humidity, and moisture.

Depending on the patient's prosthetic setup and insurance coverage, prosthetic sock reimbursement codes may apply, including:

L8420 for transtibial users
L8430 for transfemoral users (Coming Soon)

Patients should discuss reimbursement directly with their prosthetist, as coverage can vary between insurers and individual plans.

Another Option When Reimbursement Isn't Available

We recognize that not every patient has the same insurance coverage.

That is where HSA and FSA payments can be particularly helpful.

If insurance does not cover your Ethnocare product, or if going through reimbursement isn't an option in your situation, eligible U.S. customers can now use their HSA or FSA funds directly on our website.

It's not intended to replace the clinical pathway.

It's simply another pathway to access.

More Ways to Get the Product You Need

There are now several ways for U.S. customers to access Ethnocare products:

Through your prosthetist
Ask your prosthetist about the Overlay or Underlay and available reimbursement options.

Through insurance
Depending on eligibility and clinical circumstances, reimbursement codes may help cover the cost of the product.

Through HSA or FSA funds
Eligible customers can now use their HSA or FSA card directly through the Ethnocare online checkout.

Direct purchase
Customers without applicable reimbursement may also purchase products directly through our website.

Our objective is not to push everyone toward one option.

It is to make sure people have as many reasonable ways as possible to access the products that may help them.
